Basic concepts of New Socialism

Abstract

This article synthesizes some aspects of the proposal of the New Socialism of Severo Iglesias. It begins with the recognition that an ideological conscience is a condition for liberation from the exploitative conditions lived by the workers. For this reason, it is necessary to address the different formations of ideological consciousness. These formations are alienation, fetishization, mystification, and alienation. Next, the current situation of workers is exposed, as it was considered by Severo Iglesias, developing some fundamental notions for their understanding. Finally, we propose some considerations for a political praxis that allows workers a deep emancipation, freed from ideological consciousness. For this, we explain some concepts, like freedom and militancy, which allow, according to Severo Iglesias, to carry out a liberating political praxis in accordance with the proposal of the New Socialism.
