Abstract

This paper critically evaluates the dominance of the majority over minority groups. Understanding by majority the predominant tendency of power and valuation in social groups, it is argued that this is embodied both in the deployment of orders and discourses of the state and its institutions, as well as in the economic and administrative dynamics of capitalism and its axiomatics. It examines Slavoj Žižek's critique of the way in which minority groups are absorbed into capitalist ideology in the forms of multiculturalism, the defense of minority rights and tolerance of cultural differences, and argues that these are ideological resources that end up dominating minorities. Finally, the phenomenon becoming minority proposed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari is examined as a nomadic flux that is not susceptible to ideological absorption by capitalist axiomatics, i.e., that can be the origin of effective resistance.
